OASIS® undertakes migration to Microsoft AZURE® Cloud

Background

Oasis Senior Advisors is a US company that offers housing assistance in finding a place for aging people. The management has made a strategic decision to modernize the existing IT services and infrastructure and to undertake migration to the Microsoft AZURE cloud platform.

In general, when the business migrates to the cloud, the ultimate goal is saving time and money, increasing overall performance and revenues, along with scaling up its services if the demand for particular capacity or new functionalities rises. The last but not least is to ensure compliance of security and data protection.

The Challenge

The lack of consistent internal procedures and a dedicated IT team that can carry out servers’ migration, data migration, and overall cloud migration was a severe impediment to implement internally such challenging IT projects. Therefore, our IT team has augmented the internal IT staff, helping them to undertake seamless cloud migration.

The Project scope

Migration of on-premise servers to AZURE cloud servers, including:

  • Migration of Active Directory and MS Exchange Server directory, .Net based applications and data migration;
  • Migration of MsSQL server to a SQL Cluster for supporting DB redundancy and Always On Availability Groups;
  • Creating internal company documents and user accounts; migration and versioning of company docs from single (non-redundant) network to SharePoint online service, provided by Office365.

Business Benefits

Companies can optimize their costs for software licenses, hardware updates, and gain benefits from the increased capacity.

IT teams also do not need to extend the life cycle of legacy or on-premise software. Moving to the cloud helps to deal with security threats and ensures data compliance. Migration to the cloud enables businesses to use cloud-based tools and services that are already compliant, helping remove some of the burdens of compliance from enterprise IT teams.

Also, the cost model pay-as-you-go and dynamic provisioning for product development and testing give many enterprises leverage to faster launch new products.

Finally, moving company IT infrastructure to the cloud and the switching of IT investment from CapEx to OpEx benefit the company because there is no longer a need for freezing funds in hardware, software, and resources. Services and options are purchased as needed, costs are flexible, and OpEx works better for such expense type and supports necessary scalability.
