Ontotext is supporting the 4th Open Data & Linked Data Meetup which took place on 29 March 2016, 7 pm in Betahaus, Sofia, Bulgaria. The experts shared their know-how and experience gained while working on a Bulgarian government data project, as well as Norwegian government best practices in this innovative area.
Open data is a mainstream concept aiming free access to Big Data, which can help to better off the quality of life of citizens in their interaction with social institutions, as e-government, city development problems, ecology, crime prevention and many other public domains.
The 4th Open Data & Linked Data Meetup was sponsored and organized by Ontotext, which CTO – Marin Dimitrov, hosted and organized the event. The company is part of Sirma Group Holding JSC, recently successfully completed its IPO campaign on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE).
The meeting with prominent speakers revealed how experts have succeeded in managing Open and Linked Data and enabled audience to obtain a first-hand glimpse of best practices. The speaker – Bozhidar Bozhanov, Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister at Bulgaria’s Council of Ministers, elaborated the topic “Open Data from the trenches – lessons learned while opening Bulgarian government data” and shed a light about one of the first large-scale projects in this area in Bulgaria. Dumitru Roman, who has been actively working on open data in Norway, spoke on “ProDataMarket – an Open Data Marketplace”. Mr Roman is Senior Research Scientist at Oslo-based SINTEF ICT . Mr. Vladimir Alexiev, Lead of the Data & Ontologies Management group at Ontotext, moderated a panel discussion “How to find Open Data and ontologies“.
