113-th European Study Group with Industry meeting held in Sofia, September 14 to 18, 2015. Researchers and students utilized their knowledge and skills, providing a fresh approach to specific industrial challenges.
EngView Systems JSC, part of Sirma Group, specialized in development of CAD/CAM software, challenged the scientific community to find new algorithms, that can be applied to industrial scale. The solution will improve EngVIew’s software used for measurement and quality control. A working group of scientists from the Institute of Information Technologies (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences) and representatives of Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (Sofia University), resolved the case. The result will enable establishment of laser, optics or tactile measurements via touch probe, according to a predefined CAD model, and ensure full compliance, automatically and without human intervention.
EngVew Systems CAD / CAM products – SFM and ALEX Tool Matching use similar algorithms. The software for measurement and quality control developed by EngView won recognition from industry leaders in the aluminum and PVC extrusion (production of aluminum and PVC profiles), automotive and electronics.
Sponsorship of such events is part of Sirma Group mission, aimed to develop and deepen liaisons with academic community. Such initiatives are a vital part of the long-term R & D strategy of the holding, striving to align academic excellence with business and industry.
