Sirma Group is a founding shareholder and main technological partner of System for Electronic Payments - SEP Bulgaria, AD. The main goal of the consortium is to build-up a unified national system for electronic payments based on mobile telephones and GPRS point-of-sale terminals. This system, when implemented, would have a very significant positive impact on the Bulgarian economy as a whole as well as for the individual consumers.

The business model of the consortium envisions the establishment of a unique partnership between banks, mobile operators and retailers for the realization of a common, open-standards system for electronic payments that would become a national standard. The system supports many communication protocols and standards (SMS, USSD, GPRS, J2ME, SIM Toolkit) and provides encryption, identification and authorization, inter-bank settlement and so on. There are specific interface modules for merchants and banks.
