Sirma Most Successful EU FP6 Participant

Sirma Group, has been honored as the most successful and distinguished Bulgarian participant in the EC FP 6 for the achievements of its business unit Ontotext. The prize was awarded by Mr. Daniel Vylchev, Minister of Education and Science during the conference dedicated to the The Seventh Framework Programme for research and technological development (FP7)

After the ceremony, Mr. Alexiev, CEO of Sirma Group Corp. announced that two more business units of Sirma Group – Sirma Media and Sirma Solutions plan to participate in the FP 7. The company is considering serious investments and partnerships with world leaders in the areas of education, information and telecommunication technologies, biotechnologies and Semantic web.
Mr. Kiryakov, head of Ontotext, shared with the audience the success story of Ontotext and the company plans for future development. Mr. Kiryakov also made a presentation on Ontotext Semantic search engine that could be used for searching news. He demonstrated to the audience the advantages and unique possibilities of KIM, a platform for Semantic annotation of text and semantically-enabled and IE-enhanced search..

The conference opening ceremony was attended by Mr Daniel JACOB a Deputy Director-General of Community Research Programmes, Mr. Michael Humphreys, Head of Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria, Mr. Ferdinand von Weyhe, cultural attache of the German embassy in Bulgaria, members of the parliament, representatives of the business and academic communities.
